Starting out as a young child helping to prepare and BBQ hogs on his family tobacco and dairy farm for holidays and family events. A young Kermit Turrentine learned traditional North Carolina Bar-B-Q techniques that would serve as a foundation to his well crafted Turrentine family style BBQ.
After finishing high school, Kermit joined the U.S. Navy in service to his country. Mr. Turrentine continued to engage and refine his passion for making great BBQ Throughout his career in the navy never passing on the opportunity to show off his BBQ skills.
As an entrepreneur Kermit started and maintained several successful businesses but had yet to try his hand and selling his highly complemented BBQ.
In the winter of 2012 he customized a BBQ grill and smoker that would be known as the Turrentine grill, to continue cooking for family, friends and his community. This grill and smoker would soon become renowned for cooking Kermit's fantastic BBQ.
In the spring of 2017 Kermit entered a whole hog BBQ competition, where his decades of experience would be proven with the first place win in the whole hog event.  This would be the inspiration he needed to move forward with combining his love of Bar-B-Qing and entrepreneurship.
The following year he was invited to cook at the Topsail beach jazz festival, where the crowds were lined up to get an order of Mr. Turrentine's BBQ.
In 2019 he began building his ideal BBQ food trailer that he would dub Turrentine Smoking Good BBQ mobile kitchen. With the onset of the covid 19 pandemic, Kermit used that time to continue building the mobile kitchen.
